Torsten Nielsen is a baritone graduated with a so-called diploma exam from the Royal Danish Music Conservatory, Copenhagen; further studies with, among others, Anthony Rolfe Johnson.
He appears as a soloist in works such as the requiems by Fauré and Duruflé, the passions and the Christmas Oratory by J.S. Bach, Händel’s The Messiah og Grieg’s Four Hymns for choir and baritone.
Recently he appeared in the St. John Passion by Arvo Pärt with the Copenhagen Boys’ Choir and the Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen.
Furthermore he studied choir conducting with professor Dan-Olof Stenlund and performs in several CD recordings both as conductor and soloist.
